Rick Maack is a hospitality industry leader in the spa and fitness sector. Since joining Balance Spa Management as the Director of Business Development, he has founded several successful ventures servicing the beauty and wellness industries. Previously, he served as the Director of Business Development for Concept Heaven, an interactive online marketing company, and as a CPA with Price Waterhouse Coopers prior.
Maack Management is a leisure industry management company that leases spaces in hotels and residential communities, working with the building owners to create luxurious spa and fitness facilities. With their hotel partners, they use their experience and creativity to ensure that the facilities remain consistent with the entity aesthetics and branding. They also consult with pre-existing hotel and independent wellness centers to provide marketing, concept development, pre-opening project management, and needs and feasibility assessment solutions. Their clients have included the Essex House in New York City, InterContinental Hotel Group, Hilton Hotels and other brands.
Maack Management prides itself on being a family-owned organization that believes in a Guest First policy. They own all of their properties, whereas most of their competitors manage on behalf of a host. This brings a greater personal investment from management and greater level of care for customers.
Rick is also the founder of online wellness services such as Spa Standard, a unique social educational platform for spa professionals, and Relaxing Deals, a self-serve deal-of-the-day site created for the beauty and wellness industries.
Launched in 2014, Spa Standard is an innovative social educational experience that uses state-of-the-art technology to train spa, wellness and beauty industry professionals for the 21st Century. It offers a suite of online, interactive multimedia training materials, as well as on-site instructor-led training in the personal care that is central to the wellness industry. The platform will create both a high level of education for spa professionals and a network that refines industry best practices by sharing information amongst its members.
After spending many years in finance as a business development and marketing executive, Rick made the transition to the spa and fitness sector in 2003. He wanted to provide wellness and relaxation services to a growing population interested in their physical and mental wellbeing. With a hard work ethic and an attention to detail, he has grown the business to include seven locations in the United States.
The work in this industry has been rewarding for Rick Maack, both in the opportunity to work with a passionate staff and to provide innovative care to a health-conscious world. Self-taught, he enjoys working with his partners in the hotel industry to create luxurious wellness facilities that provide a restorative experience for its clients.
